A Typical Day at Indigo Ranch Boarding

From the minute you leave your dog with us, we'll get them settled in to their own dens, put their things away for them and start introducing them to the other campers in their group!  From that moment on, here's what a typical day looks like:

  • Bright and early, it's potty time!  Everyone goes out to our HUGE, safely-fenced fields where there's a couple of acres to take care of business AND get your morning energy out with your friends! Each group goes out separately, so everybody knows everybody else, and everybody is comfortable.
  • Then its time for breakfast.  Some campers have better manners than some others, so everybody eats separately--its a safety issue that preserves friendships.  Everyone eats the food they are used to so tummy problems seldom occur.
  • After a little  post-breakfast rest, it's time to go outside again...unless, of course, it's raining, in which case there's plenty of room for supervised play in the dorm. Inside, there is also the choice for a snuggle on the couch with a pal or a caretaker.
  • Naptimes are important to everybody to make sure no one spoils the camp vibe by getting tired and grumpy.  We believe in the security of the private den!  Not even a Bassett Hound can get a good rest with that one guy, with the energy of a Jack Russel Terrier, endlessly pestering them to start a new game! Several playtimes and several naptimes and a good night's sleep in a private "den" is the winning formula we have found for all-day fun.
  • At the end of the day, the overnight pups say goodbye to their day camp pals, and head in for dinner.
  • Again, everyone eats their own dinner alone and then takes a little after-dinner nap before that last hurrah and potty break in the evening.
  • At the end of a busy day, everyone goes to their own little den to get a good night's sleep, so they're bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in the morning, ready to do it all again.

Things You Should Also Know

We adhere to best practices in the industry, with caretaker-to-dog ratios that meet or beat those standards.  We have contingency plans in place for emergencies like injuries or illness--we even have plans in place in case there's a wildfire in our vicinity!

We have a live-in resident to ensure overnight safety, and to provide late night potty breaks! And no one is ever out and unsupervised. As predominantly an animal rescue organization,  animals are our priority whether they are yours, ours or nobody's!

In our quarter century of working with dogs, we've never met a dog that cared about how fancy a home was.  They care about feeling secure, feeling loved, and having fun--All the things we focus on at Indigo Ranch Boarding.

And here's something we're really proud of... unlike the vast majority of boarding facilities, we are happy to take care of your dogs with special needs such as disabilities (blind, deaf, missing limbs), medications or special diets. Talk to us about specific needs and we'll tell you if we can safely accommodate them. We are also able to give special attention to insecure  or "quirky" dogs--something we are more than familiar with after working for a quarter century with rescue dogs. If your dog requires separation for behavioral reasons, we can sometimes accommodate that as well, although there may be an additional charge because of higher demand for individual staff time and resources.

You don't need to bring anything but your dog's collar, food and, if necessary, medicine.  In fact, we encourage you not to bring anything else as we can't guarantee they'll come back in one piece!  Dogs, out of their element, sometimes destroy things they never have before, and there's always the danger of a favorite toy getting toy-napped by a pal without us knowing it.  If you still believe it is in the best interest of your dog to bring these things, however, we will do our best to preserve their belongings.
